The Araucana is a rare and historic breed originating from Chile, celebrated for its unique traits and cultural significance. Recognized by the APA and ABA, Araucanas are known for their rumpless bodies, ear tufts, and striking blue eggs—though not every chick will carry all of these features. As a heritage and critically endangered breed, they represent both beauty and preservation, making each hatch an opportunity to help safeguard poultry history.
Hens typically lay 150–180 medium eggs per year, making them moderate but steady layers. Large fowl Araucanas average 5–6 lbs for hens and 6–7 lbs for roosters, with a compact, upright build. They are generally active, hardy, and alert birds, well-suited for free-range settings.
Celebrate the history, beauty, and signature blue eggs of the Araucana!
